We've known about these two heads for a long time, Wordsmiff from his earlier days and let's face it, you should all know Wordsmiff by now! And Spitfire was one of the very first heads to hit us up when we launched the movement. Together they have joined forces to come under the alias of The Otha Guys and are flying under the Sika Records label, who in their own right rep the scene to the fullest! This is a dope collective of people working together to bring us something special, so let's delve in!
The Otha Guys album opens up with a simple intro with Spitfire bombarding Wordsmiff, eventually getting a reaction in which he says "Bout time you putting something out bruv" and the rest was history. The first full length track is Acid Test and features Wordsmiff on his ones, rapping non stop verses around your head as he cements himself in the scene once again! Toying with quitting rap and ultimately ending up back in its devilish arms! Solid opening track to The Otha Guys! The 3rd track on the album is titled T.O.G and features an official video from Sektion Red and Hozay on production. You can expect to hear the godly essence of hip hop oozing from Hozays beat as Spitfire opens with up with the first verse, firing a slew of head nodding bars focusing on the grind on an uplifting tip! Wordsmiff comes in for the second and is well equipped to keep the subject matter moving as he showcases his penmanship and lucid flows flawlessly.
We're going to skip Classic Days so make sure you go cop the album below to hear that one exclusively for yourselves! When The Penny Drops is up next and features production from NS1 and another official video supplied by Sektion Red (These guys smash it every time on the cam!). Spitfires opens the first verse bringing a barrage of bars separating himself from internet clones, always keeping shit moving in a progressive manner and reminiscing on what got him into the boombap! Wordsmiff ups the ante as he bodies the second verse with an onslaught of intertwined rhymes that'll stay up in your dome for weeks! When The Penny Drops, drops.., drops! Absolute banger and dope visuals to go along with it, big ups Sektion Red.
Next we land on a short skit with a snippet from the film The Other Guys allowing you to soak up the tracks you've heard thus far! Jumping straight into the next one titled My World as Wordsmiff brings up all back chatters and heads partaking in Chinese whispers regarding his place in the scene over the years, Smiff's here to put the nay sayers in their place. As the hook/samples/scratching fades out Spitfire takes his place on the podium and furthers the subject matter from his perspective, constantly struggling to get your name out there, always staying independent with the music and struggling with that 9-5 grind on the side. We're going to skip Self Made Serenade to save it for your own listening pleasure (trust me it's a head nodder!), scroll down to cop the album!
The second to last track on the album is Last Request with more production from Hozay! You can expect to hear Spitfire on his ones bringing numerous subjects to the forefront, such as always being the underdog to dodging them snakes and heads who like to play the victim game. A solid track to end the album off and to remind you all to never under estimate The Otha Guys! To finish off the debut album from The Otha Guys we land on the Outro which is simply a shout out to their supporters from one of their live sets! Blaow!
