Killamari is Newcastle's longest serving hip hop label, home to some of the regions favourite MC's and producers - this is the sound of the North of England's underground!
Coming from their camp and brand new to the ear drums is North Of The Wall. Dropping on the 1st of the year and host to contributions from some stunning artists this is one to put in your 'ones to watch in 2016' list. Let's take a look at what it has to say.
Ten tracks of top notch hip hop kicks off with Razor Kings and prints a stamp of quality on the product. Beats with swagger and rhymes to match it promises of good things to come. Following on Originearl continues with the dapper display of damn fine music before handing over to the fire of Just B. Bags of attitude here and a ferocious flow.
Ken Masters continues with that addictive northern twang and a solid track with a stunning chorus vocal, handing on to a cyber synth slaying from HB and Chatterbox. Big, bold and brash, the track is an assault on the speakers. Booth Boxers up next with U.D and Karlow, and their infamous sound doesn't disapoint. Sick stories and slick delivery, the track has more bounce by the bucket full.
Old Boy is next up with cohort Junior Disprol on the production. His confidence bursts through his lyrics without apology and rhymes roll relentlessly over JD's retro beats. H-Man changes things up once again and fires syllables at a superb rate for a short skit before passing on the duties to a man familiar to Underground double H - Jister. Here with TLR and Smoggy he bashes the beats with his lyrical fists like Kong on the hunt. The track is a brilliant setting for the lyricists to shoot satire with skill and they do so with bells on.
Beccy Owen wraps things up with help from Ken Masters back again with some solid flows. Owen's vocals are the perfect full stop to a stunning release and she soulfully rounds up proceedings. Killamari Records are not only host to a collection of wonderful talents, but also a collaboration of some serious passion. They have contributed a brilliant compilation of great UK hip hop tracks to kick off the year. Not just that, but they have proudly stated how big and brave the scene is North Of The Wall.
