First off the line in 2016 is a brand new single and video by long time skankers Babyhead and one of the UK's most impressive wordsmiths - Dr. Syntax. Out on the 1st of January, directed by SidexSide and shot By Tom Swindell, the video tells a story all musicians and performers know only too well - of the bond between sound engineer and band. Bruised and broken so easily the relationship between them can make or break a live performance. In fact, as a performer, you quickly learn that your best friend in the venue is not your fan, not the promoter, but the being behind the knobs.
The video is colourful, consistently funny and just the right amount of crazy. Filmed at The Plough Inn in Bristol, it gives both Babyhead and fan favourite Dr. Syntax space to play with their roles. The lyrics are hilarious throughout with too many stand-out lines to choose from. The track is clever and catchy and a shining display of the musicianship that went into making it.
A strong collaboration and a big release to kick of 2016, Soundman is sure to become a gleaming medal on Bristolian hip hop's 2016 jacket. We're glad to have it break the 2016 Underground HH seal. Watch the vid and grab the single for free below.
