Stinkin Slumrok is the 2nd of Blah Records new signings to release a project this year. His album Dong Pong features Res ONE, Black Josh, Bisk, Ray Vendetta, Flowtechs, and Lee Scott all delivering their individual style to add to Blahs already established creepy character. Four of the six MC's featured on Dong Pong are on one track so the majority of the spitting is done by Slumrok himself. He flows stylishly through the hard production of Dr Zygote, Bad Habitz, Illinformed, Bad Company, 7th Dan, Wayne Ross, Morriachi, Reklews, Sumgii & Brother Moon. This album should kick off live with its dark but still energizing tone. Tracks like 'At The Ready,' 'Microphone Junkie,' 'Toucan Trees', and 'Catfish' all punch through the speakers with their eerie atmosphere and they should hypnotize the listener, twisting and pulling them from the bar into a zombified audience. The spiraling instrumentals of Dong Pong along side Slumroks dark demeanor creates that recognized Blah sound. Check out the official video for Catfish produced by Sam Zircon below!
Straight into another official video, this time for Word 2 Wazu produced by Sumgii! Hit the damn play button now!
Dong Pong toys with different tempos outside of hip hop, 'Dinners Ready' is an example lifting energy levels and dropping them down at different points with ease. Slumrok controls his flow whether its fast or slow with good enunciation also. This album is good as a whole, full of different styles with the more experimental branches of Hip Hop along side solid old school battle bars. If you have not already heard of Stinkin Slumrok or Blah Records then Dong Pong should be a first on your to do list.
This is without a doubt one of the most enjoyable albums of the year, so ensure you checkout the stream below and grab your self a copy below for the mere price of £7! Stay tuned for more from those involved and the Blah Records collective coming soon!
