Culture Vultures Squawktown Review

Culture Vultures are a trio of emcees and a producer making up the illusive rap collective, known for their dank beats, potent pegame and rugged sound. Consisting of Squires, Finn Bar and PO Griff with Hagie on production they've been working on their latest album which dropped last month titled Squawktown featuring a total of 12 tracks plus bonus accapellas! We peeped their earlier releases and were quickly converted to their sound, so let's delve into Squawktown and see what they're bringing to the table this time!

Opening up the Squawktown album is Introsquark which features a short skit getting ready to introduce you to the mind states of the Culture Vultures and their infamous wingspan. Following shortly after the intro is Squawktown Residents which features an insanely greasy beat for these heads to demolish. Each of them are quick to engulf the beat with their cold/lazy flows and apathetic pengame as they proceed to rap circles around lifes bullshit.

Water featuring Mr Phormula, Benny Tags & Verbala is third up and features a short intro from the legendary Bruce Lee and his water based philosophy! Expect to have similar subject matter running throughout the track however less eloquent and more gritty, bars!Operation Julie brings to light a secret operation in the dark depths of Wales, cotch as they lace the beat that oozes endorphins with acid/LSD related subject matter. Balloon Animals was released near the end of 2014 along with an official video and a feature from Zubat! Expect them to bless the jazz infused soulful beat with their signature flow, down and out rhymes backed up with lazy flows and an abundance of head noddin vibes! Check out their official video below!

Culture Vultures & Zubat | Balloon Animals

Skipping Brain Freeze(peep the video below) and Generic Asian (no reason, go cop the album below) we land on Escalate which is without a doubt one of my favorites from Squawktown. Opening up with one of my favourite skits from Doug Stanhope regarding Marriage, setting the tone, subject matter and mood flawlessly as the rhymes tackle the mundane issues that come up throughout relationships.

Culture Vultures | Brain Freeze

Winged is the 9th track on the album and weighs in just under a minute 30 seconds, but fear not as it packs a punch like some of the other longer tracks. Pass It To Po introduces its self with more wise words from Bruce Lee, the beat drops and then the lucid production kicks in. Listen as the Culture Vultures display their sporadic pengame as numerous subjects are touched from Crop Circles, Sobriety to passing the Piff to Po.

Second to last track on the album is titled Buddhapest and is one of those tracks to spark the doja to after a long day grafting for the overlords! Landing on the final track Nudapest which features the same beat as Buddhapest and is equally as potent, with a slew of rhymes that'll leave your neck snappin! Although we have no more tracks to feature from the album, it comes equipped with numerous accapellas from a small selection of tracks.

That brings our review for Culture Vultures latest album Squawktown to a closure! We hope you've enjoyed our thoughts on the release but more importantly check out the album yourself! The full album is available to stream on the bandcamp below but you can cop yourself one for mere £5! Support these heads!
