Sire Fall EP Review

Sire Fall EP Review

Previously at underground hh HQ we delved into the world of Noble Throne. A hip hop label and community straight out of Derby, that pull together and pool the resources of artists of hip hop culture. Be it graffers, MCs, producers, DJs, b-boys or otherwise, the collaborative force allows them to forge some great pieces of work. Orchestrated by MC/graff artist Sire, the label has blessed our ears with some gems. One of those that floats in and out of the office playlist is Sire's Rise EP. Selling out in record time, the EP brought together the UK's britcore sound with that UK hip hop street swagger that often dominates the scene. The EP was the first part in a duo release, and now it is time for the Fall...

Storming in with hip hop boots the size of an elephant's, and breaking the concrete in the process, Fall drops in and pulls you by the scruff of the neck straight into the deep and dark underground realm we love so much. Produced by DJ Purefire, co-produced by Sille, and blessed with Purefire's cuts, the release has a very high quality and is most certainly embossed with the Undergroundhh stamp of approval. With Do It For Hip Hop (single previously reviewed on undergroundhh) Sire's rhymes and delivery are solid and hard. Honest, and ultimately proud of their true UK accent, they hammer through the syllables like a blacksmith at the anvil, and what they produce is nothing short of HEAVY.

Track one still echoing in the speakers, the next swings in and is no less full of hip hop attitude and style. Rocking with more of a funk, the mic duties are shared with Jonie D of Kaos Crew. The two flow and spit rhetoric about those keeping the true essence of the culture alive in these days of pop hop repetition and lazy styles. Track 3 is another BIG drop and when it hits, it shakes the (under)ground with a serious wobble. Featuring an MC from one of the UK's hardest working crews - Lennie from Suspekt UK delivers rhymes to make other UK MCs run back to the drawing board like scared children. Both stalwarts of the scene the love so much and together the two give us a superb example of the abilities the UK scene has when collaborating at full force.

Continuing through to the next track, the hip hop credentials are solidified in stone, and in all honesty the track really deserves it's own review. "RIP Jam Master J" begins the track, and then ensues to make one of the most heart felt hip hop tributes to date. Once again with Jonie D, together they give a talented and style-filled tip of their hats to JMJ and the legacy hip hop pioneers and architects of his calibre left for us. Taking up the mantle the beat itself is true to JMJ and the era it attributes, and is clearly a pleasure for the MCs to grace with their words. A very fitting tribute and i'm sure it'll get the attention it deserves. We've chosen the DJ Phurty Noble Throne Vs Run DMC Remix Mash Up for you here:

Wrapping up the EP is another tune heavy with UK attitude and vibe. Harder than steal and more swagger than the Fonz on freshers day, the track is seeped in authentic UK hip hop character. Sire hits his rhymes with vigour and skill, and does the mic justice with each of the lines he offers. A strong way to end a EP that knows its stance and holds it with pride.

Sire and the Noble Throne conglomerate continue to drop quality releases, and are a credit to the hip hop scene both here and on a much wider scope. The Fall EP alone is a brilliant piece in its own right, and together with Rise become a passionate and concise work of art to add to Sire's growing catalogue.
