We've been snowed under recently with life and the workload of UGHH, so this review is a little late however it's an album we simply couldn't pass on! Titled Zapatista featuring a total of 11 tracks, brought to you by Emcee Killa who you should all know by now, member of the notorious Caxton Press collective and beatsmith Grim Reaperz! If you know either of these two as well as us, then you know it's a killer collaboration and one which shouldn't disappoint in the slightest! Without wasting any more time let's delve straight into our review of Zapatista!
Opening up Zapatista is the Intro track which features demonic production laced with snippets of rhymes explaining the meaning behind the album name along with showing tribute to those who possess this frame of mind around the globe. The Sick Syllablesfeaturing Mouse Hughes brings ruckus with the beat and an onslaught of pound for pound bars, flows that'll encapsulate you and have your neck snapping before you know it.
Next up is Diablo is a flawless example of Emcee Killa's determination and hunger for the artform, along with the trial and tribulations life throws at you! The forth track is titled Captian's Voyage and is a stand out track for us, completely packed with thought provocative rhymes through out, expect Emcee Killa to deliver his bars with clean cut delivery, going in on the slavery we endorse every day to sustain our materialistic way of life! Following afterwards is Penny 4 The Guy with legendary heavyweight Si Phili dropping his barbaric delivery and veteran pengame, creating another collaboration which naturally fits together. Expect to be dosed up with bars from the belly of the beast, fighting for all the underdogs out there who solider on for what they love out of respect and not the dollar! Meanwhile the underlings get a penny, while the masters get a pound.
Bridge the Gap is the sixth track on Zapatista and is definitely in our top 3, the production Grim Reaperz brought to the table on this one showcases exactly why he's a head you need to keep a close eye on. As a Louis Armstrong sample eases you in, you're soon hit with greasy and rugged undertones until the piano loops infect your frontal dome and the master piece is created. Phoenix Da Ice Fire also features on the track and alongside Emcee Killah, it's a stella duo - perfect for giving this beat the attention it needs and that's what happens! Hit play below!
Skipping It's So Hard and Lost Property to save some surprises (Peep the album below, available to stream in its entirety!) we land on Track 9 titled Shame featuring a tranquil yet alluring beat by Grim Reaperz, creating the foundations for Emcee Killa and Manage (Caxton Press) to engulf with a barrage of hard hitting rhymes! Indulge as they display their craft with ease, focusing on making peace with ones self and the world to help form a harmonic society we can all strive in. Don't Panic is a banger for those who need to calm down and evaluate their mental state before proceeding, this track oozes nothing but food for thought and uplifting vibes through out! Amy True (Caxton Press) also features on the track blessing it with those heavenly vocals! Bringing the Zapatista album to an end we have the Outro track which allows you to digest all of the albums concepts, subject matters and the abundance of food for thought!
