Underground collective known by the alias of LITE which stands for Lean In The Evening, consists of 5 emcees all reigning from Ely (East Cambridgeshire), individually they're known as Harvs, Bill Greene, Sonny Mac, Mr Byte & KLB. Since forming the collective they've been working on their Debut self titled EP, featuring a total of 10 potent homegrown bangers! We were feeling the release as soon as we got to track 3, so are jumping straight in on a full review tip for these heads!
Kicking off with the first track named Intro you'll be introduced with a very short skit, easing you into a beat that oozes tranquility and laid back vibes! Sonny mac spitting on his ones, tops it off with conscious penmanship and the constant yearning for a better society! A seriously dope opening track to kick off Lean In The Evening. Next up is the track 2000 which features the entire clik lacing the guitar infused beat with a lyrical insight into their lifestyles, mind states and personalities! They've also conjured an official video for 2000, so light a fattie and kick back.
Third up is Rip Beats delving into the more stella production (the producers on this release are the dogs bollocks!), jumping straight into hard hitting, pound for pound rhymes on a survival tip! From the eternal soul rape of a 9-5, to the shystie behavior of a loved one, keeping a stable mind state and so forth! One of the many stand out tracks on the release! Next we land on The Procedure and we're quickly becoming die hard fans of this release, featuring more of that reflective and thought provocative production (Prod. Philanthrope) and smooth, authentic sounding rhymes that contend with some of most the soulful homegrown releases out there, it's a flawless example of what LITE are bringing! The track also features another emcee laying down a verse, known by the name of Tommy Chonged! Check it out below.
Rap & Record goes in on a lazy tip, always craving those cotching vibes and oversleeping, but don't sleep to much on the track, at the same time it's showcasing how easy they bob and weave with the pen! Another extremely strong track! Bored Of All The Same Shit speaks volumes from just the tracks name, bringing greasy and gutter delivery to Nuttkase's beat, expressing the mundane lifestyles of the British populous, so let's just have another drink. Ain't A Fun Thing is the 7th track from the LITE EP upping the ante with a more lively beat produced by Eldienne and quicker delivery it's bound to get your neck snappin. Lobotomy goes in with eerie/unnerving production from Nuttkase, setting up a solid platform for LITE to ride with vivid delivery and picture painting greasy rhymes! A straight up barfest from start to finish, check it out below on the mini bandcamp player!
Proof Of The Practice features the handy work of Boca-J on the production and oh my days, where have all these heads been hiding? Absolutely murking the production with funkalicious vibes to the frontal dome. Bill Greene gets busy on his ones, bobbing and weaving with unstoppable flows, potent pengame and nothing but clear craftsmanship! Another extremely strong track from LITE! Last up is Zoning Out switching it back to production that ooze oneness and dimension shifting vibrations, the last track will sooth your inner being while you process the previous 9 tracks and come to the realization, that this has to be one of the most underrated releases of 2014! It's sheer impeccable from start to finish, the production is next level, no filler, quality pengame and thought provoking subjects through out! As homegrown as it gets!
