London based emcee Laze come on our radar earlier in the year with a couple of bar session videos he's been getting involved with, showcasing his hunger driven rhymes and ruthless flows we were keen to hear more from Laze. It just so happens that Laze had just put out two new EP's under the name of Harsh Realities part 1 & 2 produced by Aykaye Music, so we're going to get into them with a full length review, to see what Laze can do in the booth!
The first up is part 1 of Harsh Realities featuring a total of 4 tracks, intro track is Pagans featuring tranquil and conscious production, Laze hits it up with bars of progression focusing on the end game in life despite the put downs from pagan wastemen. Letter to David Cameron is fairly straight forward to get the subject matter from a title like that, light some dro and sit back as Laze proceeds to drops bars highlighting the divide between rich and poor and the many other issues poverty in modern society causes. The Greatest Show On Earth goes in with more conscious bars picking apart police brutality, drug abuse, military conflict and more, another rugged and truthful track from Laze. Last track on Part 1 is Fuck A Genre and switches it up, dropping the politics for a moment Laze goes in showcasing his penmanship, flows, presence and delivery! A few months after the first part was released, Laze began work on the second Part of Harsh Realities featuring another 4 tracks. The first track on the EP is self titled H.A.R.S.H R.E.A.L.I.T.I.E.S and Laze does nothing but show you how he can smash any style, featuring nothing but an abundance of wordplay, schemes and intricate rhymes displayed effortlessly with his barbaric flow. Slowing the flow Tales Of A Tarnished Soul takes it back to that reflective pen game Laze gets busy with, exposing the prison planet we live in appearing to be Free while the 1% turn the cogs as they please. Chucky takes the role of explaining the rise and fall of shotting drugs from the paranoia, robberies to the shysty friends trying to get one up on you, never ends well. Moreish Mike is the last track on Part 2 and showcases Lazes story telling abilities with the rhymes, gripping you and drawing you in with every word as he proceeds to touch on an individuals life dealing with a crack addition in an apathetic society. That wraps up both release, compact from start to finish with Laze's hard hitting rhymes, thought provoking content, ruthless flows and an obvious hunger for the game. Make sure you get a copy of both of these releases and stay tuned for more from Laze in the future.
