Cappo is a name you should be familiar with when discussing homegrown hip hop, gracing the mic in the early 90's he soon became infatuated and by 1995 he was rapping daily, by 1997 he got his first live show at Nottingham Carnival, summer '97 - once that happened, Cappo was well and truly hooked and soon began building a rep in the notts scene. Since Cappo got his hunger he's released numerous albums, EP's and honed his skills at production. Never letting himself become out of touch with the game, he's dropped another EP titled Unicron today (31/10/2014) produced by Stealf (apart from an Evil Ed RMX) which we're gonna get into it with a full length review!
The Unicron EP kicks off with Bobba Fett featuring a short skit blending into a greasy and gritty beat by Stealf in which Cappo bobs in and out of with laid back flows and an abundance of intricate and thought provoking rhymes, a solid opening track from the vet. SM58 Live Rounds is the leading track from the EP with the official video being released today, it showcases exactly why Cappo has remained relevant for so long, spitting an array of rhymes that'll paint vivid imagery with each line, a quality track with strong pen game throughout! Check out the official video below.
Quantize is the third track on the EP, compact with a beat seeping thumping drums and sinister melodies, Cappo hits it head on with more intricate bars and quality subject matter, a banger for certain, potentially one of our favorites simply because with each listen we catch more and more bars equating in great replay value! Raise The Bar is the last track (sort of) from the Unicron EP going in with slightly demonic and eerie production, enlightening the riddem with on point rhymes and potent delivery showcasing how natural and fluent his rhymes come across. There's also one more track on the EP that we haven't touched on and that's the SM58 Live Rounds Evil Ed Remix, yet again another name you should recognize but also be able to put your trust in! We won't say anymore, other than check it out yourself!
The release has been dropped via DeFactoEntertainment who are responsible for releasing a number of ill albums and EP's this year (Seriously, checkout their whole bandcamp library!), you can grab yourself a copy of 'Cappos - Unicron' EP for a mere fee of £2.50! How can you argue with that price?
