Twizzy, M.A.B and Jinxsta JX or as you might know them The Three Headed Beast is a trio coming from London and Bristol. Recently they released their brand new EP, Self Driven which you can find on abnoxshuz.bandcamp.com or threeheadedbeast.bandcamp.com. The first notable factor of this album I'd like to mention is the way the each of their styles compliment one another. M.A.B is a quick spitting dagger tongue who packs in thoughtful and deep bars without ever leaving the listener thinking “What does he mean by that”. His flows are precise and quick with an upbeat tone and attitude. Jinxstas style is laid back with extremely consistent flows and a tone of voice that gives the impression he couldn't care less of what you think about his music or any other aspect of who he is. Twizzy, last but not leasts flow is sporadic, quick and packed full of his personal opinions on life, music and the world. Twizzys style pretty much defines the term unique. As a team each of their individual styles hold down different lovable aspect of the Three Headed Beast which is an important factor in being in a musical group.
Self Driven. If theres two words to describe these guys it has to be those, they've each recently dropped solo albums shortly before Self Driven EP which gives you a pretty good idea of how much they love hip hop and their drive toward making music.
Self Driven EP is an album that will make its listeners bump their whole bodies back and forth to the potent lyrics and chill beats. A very strong point in this EP is the stunning beats made from a bunch of different Abnoxshuz associated producers/beat makers. Sample based old school sounding beats with a twist of new age cleanness and groove that isn't seen in such a raw form very often in hip hop. The lyrical content revolves around being pen wielding warriors of words and the pain, struggle and joy that comes with it. They speak of normal human problems that anyone can relate to who hasn't had a life of complete luxury, but even if you have there is still much to listen for in their music because they're all very intellectual and don't overly focus on the negative.
As well, they highlight social issues and problems with the way the world as we know it runs while keeping a certain beastlyness and not whining staying stuck telling us all how much the world sucks. Which is a trap some rappers can fall into. This album brings the classic hip hop feel there is no doubt about it. From the beats to the lyrics to the love of music and positive energies put forth by all three members it embodies what hip hop truly is. A lifestyle and a common love of music. I personally enjoy this EP and recommend anyone who likes UK hip hop ( HF collection, Split Prophets, Task Force, Jehst and any other socially conscious intelligent hip hop) to check this album out as it will most likely appeal to your ears.
