Verb T has been a key player in the UK Hip Hop scene for many years constantly releasing food for thought bars and never watering down his content, despite having been involved for along time his creative juices are still in full effect. Recently he dropped a brand new track/video titled 'I Remain' to get the word out that his 7th studio album is due to drop this year, also titled 'I Remain' it's a clear message aimed at his persistence within the hip hop scene - past, present and future Verb is here to stay.
I Remain features a total of 15 tracks all which have been self produced by Verb T showcasing not only his emceeing skills but his ear for production, creating some of the most timeless and tranquil beats you'll probably ever hear - the album also features some heavyweight's alongside Verb with appearances from Kashmere, Fliptrix and Genesis Elijah. If you're not convinced yet then delve into our review of 'I Remain' from Verb !
The album kicks off with 'All That Exists' which illustrates flawlessly the entire mood of I Remain oozing ambient samples, bombardment of lazy and laid back flows and solid quality food for thought rhymes - a great opening track to set the mood. Dawn is next up focusing on 'Getting up' at the crack of dawn which I'm sure many of us have issues with, the beat is lucid and so tranquil it'll almost send you back to dream land - but remain focused so you don't miss any of the intricate rhymes Verb is spewing.
Track 3 on the album is self titled and features a banging video which was filmed at Outlook Festival in Croatia a few months ago. I Remain features yet another solid beat produced by the man himself, laced with numerous flows that blend and intertwine with ease despite the song being quite complex, subject matter wise the track showcases why Verb T has remained a figure head of the UK for many years now and I'm sure many more to come.
I remain blends into the next track 'Dopey Eyes' switching up from the bouncing beat into nothing but a self reflective vibe with some well placed piano loops, filled to the brim with bars on a straight up honesty tip - if you've been a fanatic of verbs previous release then you'll love this.
Skipping a few tracks (you need to experience it yourself!) we find ourselves at 'Control Madness' featuring a conscious and euphoria beat from Verb T which really showcases his secondary talent as a producer, the subject matter focuses on his social awareness of society during life's ups and downs.
'Lost' is without a doubt one of my personal favourites paying tribute to the recently deceased Gang Starr Verb goes in with his pen painting vivid imagery and hard hitting wordplay, topped off with some Guru cuts from Sammy B-side. Check out the official video for Lost below.
'Look Now' features a much more lively beat than previously heard on I Remain with the first verse being spat by Verb T and then backed up by High Focus head honcho Fliptrix who charges in at full force and shuts the track down! These two emcees prove to be a deadly combination yet again. There's a few more tracks which deserved to be mentioned but as always, we like you to find out for yourself!
The album drops tomorrow (23/10/2013) and is available from the powerhouse label High Focus for a fee of £7.99! Whether you're a new comer to Verb T or an avid fan we can guarantee your moneys worth or I'll refund you my god damn self!
