Strange Neighbour has recently been working on a six track release titled 'The Heisenberg EP' which I’m sure many of you will know is a reference to the hit TV series Breaking Bad. The second I heard wind of this EP and seen the feature list I had to get my hands on a copy to review its potency levels.
If you haven't heard of Strange Neighbour by now then it's definitely time to get acquainted with his production skills and this is certainly a perfect release to do just that. All tracks have been produced, recorded and mixed by The Strange Neighbour at the TPS HQ; you can also expect to hear the likes of Sirplus, Oliver Sudden, Datkid, TPS Fam, J-Man, Efeks, Skillzee, Sammy B-Side, Almighty and Phoenix Da Icefire on the EP!
The EP kicks off with 'World Burns' featuring Sirplus starting the track off with his grimy authentic flow and delivery followed by Oliver Sudden penning bars focused organised street crime, the last emcee to bless the beat by Strange Neighbour is Datkid who hit's the track with his rough, rugged and raw in your face style - finishing up the track as a great introduction to the EP.
Track 2 is titled 'Spread the Word' and focuses around the notorious drug chemist Heisenberg and his rise in the criminal underworld, containing an abundance of references and skits from the show. The beat Strange Neighbour has created in his lab oozes tranquillity and mystery giving the emcees the perfect platform to get busy with. Spread The Word opens up with Phoenix Da Icefire laying down the hook and spitting the first verse, Jman also features on the track putting his unique sound and style to the beat before Datkid lays down the third verse and ends the track flawlessly.
Lets Fly is the third track from the release featuring a beat which will make you drift to the unconscious world and back numerous times with eerie cold dank vibes. You can expect to hear the likes of Oliver Sudden, Sirplus, Datkid, Jack Diggs ride the beat the beat each with their very own 'lazy' flow contributing to the lucid and extra-terrestrial beat by Strange Neighbour, cuts have also been provided by the legendary Sammy B-Side.
Crystal is the fourth track on the EP featuring another appearance from Jman and Oliver Sudden but this time alongside Sirplus laced over the top of a lively neck jerking beat. Crystal is a track which builds perfectly starting off with Sirplus opening up, followed by Oliver Sudden upping the levels and then finished and completely bodied by Jman's third shutting the track down with his outburst of lyrical rage and robust flows.
What is That? is an intertwined bombardment of riffs and piano keys ready for Big Toasts (TPS Fam), Datkid, Oliver Sudden and Sirplus to hit the beat with their lyrical fury and that's exactly what they do - producing the perfect chemical stability resulting in a product of the highest purity, yet another banger from The Heisenberg EP.
Last but not least we're at the final track titled 'Clue You In! – Posse Cut' featuring emcees Sirplus, Oliver Sudden, Efeks, TPS and Skillzee with cuts provided by Almighty. The beat starts off with some good old scratching and then pounces straight into grimy loops and raw bars from everyone involved, followed by a bit of back to back and some well picked Breaking Bad samples.
